There’s a long list of names, from Willie Thrower to Marlin Briscoe to James Harris to Eldridge Dickey to Warren Moon, who saw their deserved opportunities to play the position at the NFL level denied, or - in Moon’s case - had to wait far too long for those opportunities. Part of the reason it’s never happened before is the lack of opportunities given to black quarterbacks throughout NFL history. Needless to say, this has never happened before.
